Laird Article on BLE Featured in Medical Design Magazine

An article written by Product Manager Jonathan Kaye and Marketing Communications Specialist Stephanie Lubrano of Laird Technologies was featured in the August issue of Medical Design. The article, titled Bluetooth Low Energy may be best choice for some medical applications, discusses the growing popularity of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) among medical device makers.

The article distinguishes classic Bluetooth from Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), while highlighting the features of BLE. Kaye and Lubrano also identify the two types of BLE devices, Bluetooth Smart and Bluetooth Smart Ready, and stress the importance of understanding the advantages and limitations of BLE. The authors write, “…it is imperative to understand which medical devices are a good fit for BLE. By recognizing both the advantages and limitations of BLE technology, this knowledge can be applied for choosing the appropriate application to get the most out of your device.”
