On the BL652 do the CTS/RTS lines need to be connected? If UwTerminalX is set to handshaking "None" should it work without these line connected?
Q. Do the CTS/RTS lines need to be connected on the BL652? If UwTerminalX is set to handshaking "None" should it work without these line connected? A. We strongly recommend that CTS/RTS are implemented in the board. As per section 5.6 of the BL652 Datasheet (HIG) : Some serial implementations link CTS and RTS to remove the need for handshaking. We do not recommend linking CTS and RTS other than for testing and prototyping. If these pins are linked and the host sends data at the point that the BL652 deasserts its RTS signal, then there is significant risk that internal receive buffers will overflow, which could lead to an internal processor crash. This will drop the connection and may require a power cycle to reset the module. We recommend that the correct CTS/RTS handshaking protocol be adhered to for proper operation. If CTS/RTS are not implemented it may result in issues with UART firmware upgrades and loading of smartBASIC applications via UART. If you are not implementing CTS/RTS it is recommended that the JTAG interface is implemented, as per section 5.13 of the BL652 Datasheet, for firmware upgrades and loading smartBASIC applications to the board?
