FAQ

Does the BT510 support Eddystone Beacons?

While the legacy BT510 firmware, which currently ships on the BT510 sensor, does not support Eddystone Beacons, it is possible to flash our Canvas Software Suite firmware to the BT510 to enable custom application development. (https://www.ezurio.com/canvas/software-suite).

To program the Canvas firmware to the sensor you would need to use our USB-SWD programmer (https://www.ezurio.com/wireless-modules/programming-kits/usb-swd-programming-kit).

Once the Canvas Firmware is flashed, the device can be custom programmed using Python Scripting as outlined in our Canvas Python API documentation (https://lairdcp.github.io/canvas_python_docs).

We also have a library of sample Python applications, including several Beacon applications. (https://github.com/Ezurio/canvas_python_samples/tree/main/modules/Beacons).

Our Canvas firmware also supports over the air firmware and application updates, once it has been initially programmed to the sensors, using the Canvas Hub Applet in our XBit Product Evaluation tool , which is available for Desktop, Android and iOS devices.

Why BT510 does not show up in the Android/iOS mobile app?

If the BT510 is not visible in the mobile app, please check the following:

  • Location Permission: Ensure the app has location permission enabled. This permission is necessary for the app to detect Bluetooth devices.
  • Location Services: Verify that location services are enabled on your device. For both Android and iOS, location services must be turned on for the app to scan and find nearby devices like the BT510.

By ensuring both location permission and services are enabled, your mobile app should be able to detect the BT510.
