Nitrogen93 SMARC

Overview
Click here to learn more about our Universal SMARC Carrier board.
Our new Nitrogen93 SMARC (What is SMARC?) is powered by NXP’s next generation i.MX 93 processor, NXP PMIC PCA9451A, and our Sona Wi-Fi 6/6E and Bluetooth 5.3/5.4 wireless module families based on leading NXP and Infineon solutions, high performance LPDDR4 RAM, and eMMC storage. We combine this with our common SMARC carrier board; together they serve as a single board computer (SBC) that can speed your product to market. Alternately, work with us to create a custom carrier that fits your mechanical, environmental, temperature, and interface requirements.
- Powerful Heterogenous Multiprocessing: Up to 1.7 GHz dual-core Cortex-A55 microprocessor and 250 MHz Cortex-M33 microcontroller allow you to run Linux and an RTOS on dedicated, hardware-firewalled subsystems.
- Dedicated Machine Learning: High-performance edge machine learning via an integrated Arm Ethos™-U65 microNPU, delivering up to .7 TOPS.
- Diversity of Interfaces: Multiple display, network, data, audio and camera interfaces.
- SMARC 2.2 Standard Form Factor: 82mm x 50mm SMARC edge connector form factor which includes onboard ethernet PHYs. One design supports multiple processor, memory, and wireless configurations.
- Hardware Upgrade Roadmap: Build a product design that can easily be upgraded to the latest processors and wireless options as future Ezurio SOMs based on the SMARC standard are released.
- Advanced Common Carrier/Development Board: Display, camera, audio, Ethernet, USB, CAN, I2C, SPI, UART, and more. Use in development, as an SBC equivalent in a product, or as reference designs for your carrier board design.

Why is Android not available and supported on/with the Nitrogen93 SMARC module?
There is no official Android BSP available from NXP for the i.MX 93, which our Nitrogen93 SMARC module is based on; therefore, we do not (and cannot) support it either. This is because the CPU is specifically designed for low-power edge, industrial, and IoT applications, where lightweight operating systems like Linux or RTOS are preferred. Additionally, and more importantly, it lacks the hardware and graphical capabilities required to run Android efficiently.
What is the difference between part numbers SMARC_CAR and SMARC_CAR_BRD
Our Universal SMARC Carrier is orderable both as a standalone carrier board (SMARC_CAR_BRD) and as a kit (SMARC_CAR) complete with power, data, and antenna cable options.
- The part # SMARC_CAR option includes:
- 1 x SMARC_CAR_BRD (Main Carrier board that SMARC SOMs plug into)
- 1 x 5V Power Supply (USA plug connector only)
- 1 x DB9 Serial Cable
- 3 x EFB2471A3S-10MH4L (Tri-Band Wi-Fi Antennas)
- 2 x 001-0021 (Dual-Band Wi-Fi Antennas)
- 1 x Insert Card
The part # SMARC_CAR_BRD is also purchasable on its own and this is the main carrier board.
PLEASE NOTE – neither of these 2 part numbers include either a Nitrogen or Tungsten SMARC, they are purchased separately to meet the needs of your application.
How do I set the bootloader back to its default configuration?
The command env erase will restore defaults when executed in the bootloader.
How do I configure my network connection?
NMCLI should be utilized to configure network interfaces.
What key is the M.2 slot on the Universal SMARC Carrier board?
The M.2 Slot on the Universal SMARC Carrier board is E key.
