Laird Partners with LoRa Alliance
Published on March 2, 2015
Today Laird announced its partnership with the LoRa Alliance at Mobile World Congress ’15. The LoRa Alliance is the largest, most powerful consolidated effort by industry leaders to enable the Internet of Things (IoT). The LoRa Alliance is an open, non-profit association of members that strives to standardize Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWAN) deployed around the world to enable the IoT.
Founded by Semtech, other members of the alliance include IBM, Microchip, Kerlink, and Actility. Laird joins the Alliance to collaborate to drive global success of the LoRa Protocol (LoRaWANTM), a new standard set to simplify local installations and enhance interoperability among connected “Things”.
“Laird has shown incredible commitment and expertise in their development of the first generation of LoRaTMModules. We view them as a key partner in the LoRaWANTM ecosystem as they enable applications and offer the flexibly that is needed as the industry embraces and deploys LPWAN,” says Ståle Pettersen, Chairmen of the LoRa Alliance.
With years of experience in embedded wireless technologies, ranging from low energy Bluetooth modules to Enterprise-Grade Wi-Fi (the primary means of connectivity in the upcoming IoT), Laird is at the forefront of development in the Enterprise, working closely with customers, partners, vendors, and now the LoRa Alliance to identify problems associated with the Enterprise IoT (EIoT) and to work towards a global standard. Laird will be delivering new products, solutions, and systems to harness the power of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi in the EIoT, delivering an entirely new level of value.
Laird and the LoRa Alliance are attending MWC, which takes place in Barcelona, Spain, from March 2-5th. Stop by Laird’s booth (Booth #1G19) in Hall 1. The company is also giving a Power Hour Presentation on Thursday March 5th, 10am-11am, Theatre B. The presentation will cover challenges such as protecting a new generation of electronic devices requiring even greater product performance and connecting mission critical applications in complex, high density wireless environments.
