Laird Announces Dual Mode USB HCI Modules

Laird recently announced its first Bluetooth v4.0 Dual Mode USB HCI Modules.

Bluetooth v4.0 specification includes Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) support in addition to Classic Bluetooth (pre v4.0) Laird's BL600 Series modules, which made their debut in April of this year, offer a simple way to add single-mode BLE, or Bluetooth Smart, to small, portable, power-conscious devices. This has been complimented by the new BT800 series with dual-mode or Bluetooth Smart Ready support, enabling connections to other devices that support BLE or Classic Bluetooth.

The Laird BT800 Series modules are ideal for applications where designers require high performance in a minimal footprint. The BT800 Series has been designed to offer the most cost-effective route for leveraging either Classic Bluetooth or Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) into OEM devices that support an external Bluetooth software stack.

Every BT800 Series module is designed to add robust, long-range Bluetooth data connectivity to any device. Key application areas for the BT800 Series include AIDC devices, such as handhelds and tablets, medical devices, ePOS terminals, barcode scanners, and industrial cable replacement.The fully certified Laird BT800 series enables OEMs to accelerate their development and time-to-market with a portfolio of devices including modules, development kits and packaged USB dongles.
